Lindsay McLellan joined Jewitt McLuckie & Associates in July 2018 as an articling student, and remained on as an associate upon being called to the bar in June 2019. Lindsay received her Juris Doctor from the University of Ottawa Common Law program in June 2018.
Lindsay pursued her passion for social justice during her legal studies. Lindsay passed with distinction from the University of Ottawa Community Legal Clinic (“UOCLC”) placement course where she worked as a case worker and division leader. At UOCLC, Lindsay represented low-income women who were victims of violence at the Criminal Injuries Compensation Board. Additionally, Lindsay conducted LEAF @ Work workshops at Ottawa high schools to educate youth entering co-op placements on workplace discrimination issues. She also volunteered at Law Help Ontario, Pro Bono Ontario’s initiative, facilitating access to justice for unrepresented litigants in various civil matters, including employment law. Lindsay received the 2017-2018 Alison Dewar Scholarship in Women’s Equality, Labour, and Human Rights Law as a result of her demonstrated interest in pursuing a career protecting workers’ and women’s rights.
Prior to law school, Lindsay received her B.A. honours in English Language and Literature and Political Science at St. Thomas University. During her undergraduate studies, Lindsay participated in the University’s inaugural Moot Court team, competing in two American Collegiate Moot Court Association competitions. While attending school, Lindsay worked at a personal injury firm to help enforce the rights of catastrophically injured clients. Through her personal injury work, Lindsay learned the importance of workplace accommodation and the impact of unemployment.
Before starting articling, Lindsay was able to travel to parts of Eastern Europe, including her favourite Eastern European country - Croatia. Lindsay loves a good Netflix binge, talking about Prince Edward Island, and giving treats to all the dogs at the office.
